    Northern Ngari is the remotest area in Tibet. Due to its limited condition, fewer visitors visit this place every year. However, the main travel route along the Ngari is safe for travelers, you don't need to worry about it.
  • When is the best time to travel the Northern Ngari Route?
    June to October is the tourist season in Ngari. The annual average temperature is 19°C, and the altitude of the area is more than 5,000 meters. The temperature difference between day and night is very large. July to early September is the rainy season of Tibet. Therefore, the best time to travel is early June, mid September - October.
  • Can foreign tourists visit Pangong Tso Lake?
    Pangong Tso is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m. There’s a famous bird island in the middle of the lake. Foreign tourists are allowed to travel there. You can stay overnight at the Shiquanhe Town(i.e. "Lion Spring River Town")

    Northern Ngari is located in a remote area and thus the accommodation conditions are limited. You can find star-rated hotels in Darchen and Zanda. But there are only ordinary hotels and guest houses in other places on this route. There is no separate bathrooms or enough hot water supply. Therefore, you have to prepare for the tough environment.

    The Puruogangri Glacier is located at the center of Chang Tang National Nature Reserve. It is 560 kilometers away from Naqu Town. The Puruogangri Glacier is the third largest glacier in the world next to the Antarctic and the Arctic. It is known as the third pole in the world. Some say that it is the most beautiful glacier on the last piece of pure land on earth. As of June 1st, 2018, the Puruogangri Glacier is not be opened to the public, including foreign tourists.

    You’d better prepare some snacks for the journey is very long. There are many places providing Tibetan Food only and some offering Sichuan Cuisine also. There are not so many choices. If you are not used to the local food, you can prepare compressed biscuits, chocolate and instant noodles in advance.
  • Can tourists see wild animals on the route?
    In some depopulated areas along the way, you can see many wild animals such as Tibetan antelope, yellow sheep, wild donkey, wild horse, etc. But you can only see them in a long distance.
