  • How is the accomodation condition of Mt. Everest?
    All the accommodations and food conditions on the way to Mt. Everest is relatively limited. The best hotel around Mt. Everest is Mt. Everest Hotel, located in Tingri, have private bathroom, but the price is equal with the three-star hotel in Lhasa. In addition, there is only 8km between the Rongphu Monastery and Everest base Camp, there is a very simple bed seat in Gesthouse of Rongphu Monastery are available for tourists, but the condition is very simple, with 7-8 share one room, also have standard rooms, but with the public bathroom. Please be prepared mentally before going.
  • Can tourist visit EBC in winter?
    Winter is the off-season for tourism in Tibet. Many people do not want to come to Tibet, but nature will not lose its luster because of the cold. In fact, winter is also a good season to see Mt. Everest, because the visibility of Everest in winter is the highest in the year, the temperature difference between the mountain and below the mountain is smaller than other seasons.   • What to bring while visiting EBC?
    Due to the high altitude, long distance and complex road conditions of EBC, you must make adequate preparations before going. Certificate: passport, Border Pass, luggage: sweater + thick outdoor jacket + jeans + waterproof pants. Everest Base Camp is cold all year round, so it is recommended to bring a warm down jacket. Secondly, conditions in Rongphu Guesthouse is relatively poor, it is recommended to bring a sleeping bag. The most convenient is a small down sleeping bag, which light and warm. You also can rent a sleeping bag in Lhasa.
  • What if the altitude sickness happened on the way to Everest?
    Get to Lhasa in advance and spend a few days at low altitude areas getting used to the environment. If you experience altitude sickness during your journey to Everest, you should carefully observe and evaluate. If you experience severe symptoms of altitude sickness such as pulmonary edema, you should immediately evacuate to the low altitude area. If you are in good physical condition, it is also recommended to bring some chocolate or take anti-hyperactivity drugs in advance to avoid or alleviate the symptoms of altitude sickness.
  • In what conditions can tourists climb to Mt. Everest?

  • Is it dangerous for the elderly and young children to visit EBC?
    Not recommend to bring the little children, as the altitude of EBC is too high, may susceptible to hypoxia, and children are not always able to express their altitude sickness symptoms. For the elderly, it is all depend on their individual health condition, have to check up if got high blood pressure or heart disease in advance. If the physical condition is good, it should be no problem for them to visit EBC.
  • How is the road condition to EBC?
    From Lhasa to Everest Base Camp are asphalt road, ordinary commercial vehicles can drive on it. Tingri been separated with New Tingri (Shelkar Town) and Old Town (Gangga Town), there are 70 miles in between, the new constructed asphalt road is ready, and New Tingri is closer to EBC, and takes 3 hours of vehicle, the road condition is very good, both car and vehicles can run on it.
  • Do I need any documents to go to Mt. Everest except Tibet Permit?
    Whether Chinese or foreign tourists into the Everest, are required to apply the Border Pass, and it is can be applied in Lhasa or Shigatse. Foreign visitors are required to apply the boarder pass through a local travel agency along with the Tibet permit. Chinese tourists can apply in their local police station, free of charge, and can get it during the day, very convenient. The Border Pass also can be applied in Tibet, but the procedure is a bit complicated, for the tourists from mainland China had better apply in their registered permanent residence before travel. While filling in the form, just mentioned Mt. Everest, Tingri Region will do.
  • What is the altitude of Mt. Everest?
    The average altitude of Tibet is above 4,000 meters, the altitude of Mt. Everest is 8,833.43 meters. However, for the normal visiting, all the tourists are far viewed at the altitude of 5,200 meters from EBC or the observation deck of Rongphu Monastery.
  • What to eat at Rongphu Guest House?
    You may find some small restaurants along the way towards Mt. Everest as they provide some simple meals, such as: fried rice and noodles. If you follow the itinerary from our agency, our tour guide will recommend a restaurant, you just remember to bring along the cash, generally each meal costs RMB 30 – 40/person. However, breakfast is not included on the day of Mt. Everest, tourists are suggested to purchase some milk, bread and fruit in Shigatse for the next morning.
  • Do I have to bring a sleeping bag while staying overnight at Everest Base Camp?
    Mt. Everest attracts many people, and those who visit Tibet, cannot miss it, and even spend the night at EBC. As people know that even in summer, the temperature in the morning and evening are pretty low, even without sleeping bag still can, as each bad seat provides a quilt, if you still feel cold can ask for more. Of course, if your luggage is not too many, and prepared sleeping bag in advance, also can bring your own sleeping bag, to keep yourself warm and clean.
  • How long does it take to get to Mt. Everest from Lhasa?
    From the viewing platform of Rongphu Monastery or the Base Camp, you may see the peak of Mt. Everest with white clouds lingering between the mountains. Since the specific date to reach to Mt. Everest depends on the physical condition of each tourists, generally you can reach Rongphu Monastery within 2 days: Day 1 Lhasa - Shigatse, Day 2 Shigatse - Rongphu Monastery; but if you wish to rest and adapt to the altitude in low altitude areas such as Lhasa,it can take 2 or 3 more days.
  • When is the best season for travel to Mt. Everest?
    Mt. Everest is famous both in mainland China and overseas. Many friends who come to Tibet want to see its "holy face". In fact, Mt. Everest is available for tour in four seasons, but each season has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, I personally consider April - May & September may be the best season to go to Everest, because there are no too many tourists in the season, the travel cost is relatively cheaper than summer. The view of Mt. Everest is spectacular, with high visibility, and the temperature is not too low.
