Darchen Accommodation Condition

Darchen is a relatively messy small village at the foot of Mount Kailash. It belongs to the Ngari area and is about 4,700 meters above sea level. Therefore, it is remote and barren. Because the guests who trekking the mountain will rest in Darchen as the starting and ending point of the mountain. Every July, a large number of guests will come to Tachin, but Tachin is relatively small, and the number of hotels is limited. The government stipulates that there should be no more than five accomodations in 2019, so during the peak season must be booked in advance.

Tachin is mainly based on guest houses, and there are about 3 hotels are qualified. One is the local best, at the foot of the mountain: Himalaya Kailash Hotel. In addition, 2 ordinary hotels can provide standard rooms and single rooms. The rest of the guest houses are arranged according to the multi-person room.

Ordinary hotels are economical and more difficult compare with others. The infrastructure includes: bedding, electric kettle, heating, hot water (not guaranteed for 24 hours), bathroom (partially separate bathroom), no toilet and breakfast service. Mainly room decoration and hotel appliances and services can not keep up with other areas.

The Himalaya Kailash Hotel is the only hotel that guarantees: 24-hour hot water and continuous electricity, separate bathroom, toilet and breakfast service. During the peak season must be booked in advance.
